how we work

our distinctive model for planning your journey

Your journey deserves to be a highly personal, highly interactive experience. Everything we do is customized and that means our approach is different from a traditional travel agency.  Here is how we work with you to create an unforgettable itinerary.

Step 1: Reach out to us via the “Contact” or “Let’s Talk Travel!” page and tell us a bit about yourself and your travel interests. We will schedule an initial complimentary 20- to 30-minute consultation to learn more about your past travel experiences, what you like, what you don’t like, your budget, and what would make your next journey an adventure of a lifetime.

Step 2: If you feel comfortable partnering with us and would like us to plan your journey, we will typically collect an upfront $500 trip planning fee.  We will work with our international partners to create a draft itinerary with the right blend of culture, nature and adventure to meet your personal travel goals. Where practical, we will include unique and off-the-beaten path experiences to help you immerse in the local culture.

Step 3: We will meet to review the itinerary, answer your questions, and fine tune the program to best meet your needs.

Step 4: While some people may choose to take the itinerary and book everything online, most clients will choose to have us manage the booking.  When you are ready, we will finalize dates, book hotels and activities, and arrange guides – and in most cases we will credit half of the planning fee toward the cost of the trip.  During this process, we can also give you guidance on international flights and arrange travel insurance.

From the time we start the planning process, we will monitor your destination for health and safety concerns and will keep you informed of any risks you should be aware of.  Our service, support and risk management continues during your travels. You will have 24/7 access to both our local partners on the ground in the country of travel and to our team in the U.S. And we are constantly monitoring political, weather, and other issues on the ground while you are in your destination.
